Chilean visa and permit processing times
SERMIG processes applications through its digital portal; published processing times were not confirmed from an official figure.
Important
Residence applications are handled by SERMIG through the Portal de Trámites Digitales, where applicants can track the status of their case. Timelines depend on the category, the completeness of the file and current caseloads.
Some routes have fixed procedural windows that affect timing - for example, holders of a work permit have 45 days after entering Chile to present their employment contract, and permanent-residence applications must be filed within the 90 days before the temporary permit expires. Check your case status on the SERMIG portal rather than relying on estimates.
