How to Apply for a Central African Republic Visa
How visa applications are routed through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Central African embassies, and the steps to submit one.

Visas for the Central African Republic are applied for before travel at a Central African embassy or consulate. Applications are first addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Central Africans Abroad in Bangui and then forwarded to the Central African embassy serving the applicant's country of residence. Where there is no Central African mission, applications may be handled through a partner French diplomatic mission.
At missions such as the Paris embassy, you can apply either online — by creating an account and completing the digital form — or on paper by downloading and completing the form. Applicants print and sign the application, and for postal return of the visa must enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope with Chronopost insurance. Fees are paid by bank transfer using the mission's RIB bank details, or in cash at the embassy.
Basic steps
- Choose the correct visa (short-stay for visits; long-stay for stays beyond a short visit)
- Apply online or by paper form at the relevant Central African mission
- Provide a valid passport, two photos and all requested supporting documents
- Print and sign; include Chronopost-insured return postage if applying by mail
- Pay by bank transfer or cash as instructed by the mission
