How to Apply for a Cabo Verde Visa or Permit

Important
Applying to enter or stay in Cabo Verde depends on your nationality and purpose. Short visits by air almost always require completing the EASE online pre-registration and paying the Airport Security Tax (TSA) before travel, even for visa-exempt nationalities.
Nationals who are not visa-exempt apply for a short-stay visa (tourism, transit or temporary) at a Cabo Verdean embassy or consular post. People coming to work, study, join family, invest or retire apply for a residence permit through the Direção de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras (DEF), usually after entering on a residence visa.
Nationality applications (naturalisation, marriage, descent) are handled through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and consular services.
