Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality, the purpose of your trip and how long you intend to stay. Citizens of many countries, including most EU states and the USA, are exempt from a short-stay visa, but the length of the visa-free stay varies by nationality.

Regardless of visa exemption, most air travellers must complete EASE pre-registration before arrival. Stays beyond the visa-free period, or for work, study, family, investment or retirement, require the appropriate visa or DEF residence permit.

Key questions

  • Is my nationality on the official visa-exempt list, and for how many days?
  • Am I travelling for tourism, business, study, work, family or residence?
  • Will my stay exceed the visa-free period for my nationality?
