Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Most Botswana visas can be applied for in two ways: online through the government eVisa portal at evisa.gov.bw, or in person at a regional or district immigration office, or a Botswana embassy or consulate abroad using Form 1 (Application for Visa).

For online applications you choose the visa type, provide travel details, upload your documents (usually combined into a single PDF) and pay online. If approved, the visa is printed at the office where the application was made, or you travel with the approval letter and the visa is printed at the port of entry.

Work permits are handled separately by the Department of Labour and Social Security and are submitted to the nearest Labour Office. Residence permits, permanent residence and citizenship applications are lodged with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship on the relevant forms.
