Bolivia sorts nationalities into Grupo I (no tourist visa), Grupo II (tourist visa required) and Grupo III (tourist visa required subject to prior clearance from DIGEMIG). Which group applies is set by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and revised periodically.

Eligibility for other routes depends on purpose and ties: work and study visas require documented activity or enrolment, family routes require a qualifying relationship, and residence and naturalisation require qualifying time in Bolivia.
