Who it is for

  • Persons born in The Bahamas to non-Bahamian parents who permanently reside there (Constitution Article 7)
  • Persons born legitimately abroad to a married Bahamian mother and non-Bahamian father (Article 9)
  • Certain foreign-born offspring of a Bahamian male referred to in Articles 3(2) and 8

Requirements

  • Letter of request to the Director of Immigration
  • Completed First Schedule Part 2 Form 1B (notarised) with US$10 postage stamp
  • Medical certificate dated within 30 days and police certificate (applicants 14+)
  • Two passport photographs and valid passport biographical pages (applicant and parents)
  • Original birth certificate and certified marriage/birth certificates with translations
  • Immunisation card, school records and transcripts for minors where applicable
  • Foreign documents apostilled/legalised and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

How to apply

  • Submit Form 1B and supporting documents to the Director of Immigration, P.O. Box N-831, Nassau
  • Pay the US$200 non-refundable processing fee
