Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

How you apply for an Angolan visa depends on the visa category and your nationality. Tourism-visa applicants from eligible countries generally apply online through the SME e-visa portal, while work, study, investment, family and residence routes are lodged at an Angolan diplomatic or consular mission or through the Serviço de Migração e Estrangeiros (SME).

The SME is the central body of the Ministry of the Interior responsible for the entry, transit, stay and exit of foreign nationals. It has been moving services onto an online transactional platform where requests are submitted, paid for and tracked. Always start from the official SME website to reach the correct, current channel for your visa type.

General steps

  • Check whether you apply online (e-visa) or at a mission/SME
  • Gather the documents on the SME/consular requirements checklist
