To develop Saharan tourism, Algeria has introduced a limited electronic visa and visa-on-arrival facility for tourists travelling to the country's southern regions within an organised framework through an approved Algerian travel agency. The scheme is applied through the Ministry of Interior portal and is separate from the standard consular visa process.

Rollout of the electronic visa has been limited and eligibility is restricted, so most nationalities still need to obtain a visa from an Algerian consulate before travelling. Travellers should confirm current eligibility, entry points and conditions with the Ministry of Interior and their travel agency before relying on this route.
