Applying for entry to Uzbekistan starts with checking whether you need a visa at all. Many nationalities are visa-free for short stays, so the first step is to confirm your nationality's status on the official Ministry of Foreign Affairs and e-visa resources.

If you are not visa-free, most short-stay visitors apply online through the official e-visa portal at e-visa.gov.uz, creating an application, uploading the required documents and paying the fee electronically. For work, study, long-term or family routes, you may instead apply through an Uzbek diplomatic mission and may need an invitation or permit first.

After approval, the e-visa is issued electronically and presented on arrival. Foreign nationals must also register their place of stay shortly after entering the country.

General steps

  • Confirm whether your nationality is visa-free or needs a visa
  • For an e-visa, apply and pay on e-visa.gov.uz
  • For work/study/family/long-term routes, secure any invitation or permit and apply as directed
