How eligibility depends on nationality and purpose, and which route matches which situation.

Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Eligibility for entering Uzbekistan depends on two things: your nationality and the purpose of your visit. Nationals of visa-free countries can enter for short tourism or private visits without a visa, while others must obtain an e-visa or a visa from a mission.

The purpose of the trip determines which route applies: tourism and short visits use the visa-free regime or a tourist e-visa; employment requires a work permit and employment visa; study requires an institution's invitation; and long-term stays lead to residence and eventually naturalisation.

Match your situation to a route

  • Short tourism/visit: visa-free entry or tourist e-visa
  • Passing through: transit (visa-free or transit e-visa)
  • Employment: work visa with labour permit
  • Study: student visa via an accredited institution
  • Family visit: private/family visa
  • Long-term: residence permit, then naturalisation
