Who it is for

  • Foreign nationals travelling to Turkmenistan for tourism and sightseeing
  • Travellers using an accredited Turkmen tour operator (independent tourism is generally not possible)

Requirements

  • A Letter of Invitation approved by the State Migration Service, usually arranged by a licensed tour operator
  • A passport valid for the required period with blank pages
  • Completed visa application form and photographs
  • Payment of the consular fee for the chosen duration and number of entries

What you can do

  • Enter Turkmenistan for tourism for the duration granted
  • Travel on an itinerary supported by your invitation (guided tours are the norm)

How to apply

  • Book a tour with a licensed Turkmen operator who applies for the Letter of Invitation
  • Wait for the State Migration Service to approve the invitation
  • Collect the visa at a Turkmen embassy/consulate abroad, or at Ashgabat airport if pre-approved
  • Register with the State Migration Service after arrival where required
