Requirements

  • A travel document valid for at least 60 days beyond the intended duration of stay (a 90-day stay needs 150 days' validity).
  • Your total stay must not exceed 90 days within any 180-day period, counted across all entries.
  • The exemption covers short stays for purposes such as tourism; it does not permit work or long-term residence.
  • Citizens of certain European countries (including Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Greece, Georgia and others) may enter using a national ID card instead of a passport under the Council of Europe agreement.

How to apply

There is no application or online form for visa-exempt entry. Travel to a Turkish port of entry and present your valid travel document (or accepted national ID card) to the border authorities.

Border officers make the final decision on entry, so carry supporting evidence of your visit (such as accommodation and onward travel) in case it is requested.
