Documents Needed for a South Korean Visa
The core documents most Korean visa applications require, plus the category-specific evidence that varies by route.
Important
Almost every Korean visa application requires a passport valid for the intended stay, a completed application form, a recent passport-style photograph and the applicable fee. Beyond these basics, the supporting documents depend entirely on the visa category.
Work routes typically require an employment contract or letter of appointment, proof of qualifications and, for many categories, a confirmation of visa issuance obtained by the Korean sponsor. Study routes require a certificate of admission and proof of funds. Family routes require civil-status documents such as marriage or birth certificates, often with prescribed legalisation or apostille and certified Korean translation.
Because document requirements are set per category and can differ between missions, always check the specific checklist for your visa type on the Korea Visa Portal or with the Korean mission handling your application before submitting.
