Who Is Eligible for a South Korean Visa
How nationality, purpose of stay and personal circumstances determine which Korean visa or entry route applies to you.
Important
Eligibility for entering South Korea depends first on nationality. Nationals of countries with a visa-waiver or designated visa-free arrangement may enter for short stays without a visa, though most must hold a valid K-ETA (subject to any temporary exemption in force). Nationals of other countries must obtain a visa before travel.
For longer or purpose-specific stays, eligibility is set by the conditions of each visa category: work visas generally require a job offer or sponsor and relevant qualifications, student visas require admission to a recognised institution, and family visas require a qualifying relationship with a Korean national or resident. Some categories carry income, investment or quota conditions.
