Requirements vary by visa type, but most applications share a common set of documents. A passport valid for at least six months and a copy of the bio-data page are needed for every route, alongside evidence supporting the purpose of travel.

For visitor visas this includes a return or onward ticket, accommodation confirmation and proof of funds; work, study and family routes add employer, institution or relationship evidence, and some categories require supporting letters from the Labour Department, a Ministry or the Prime Minister's Office.
