Appointments and biometrics for a Norway visa application
After submitting online you book an appointment at the police/SUA in Norway or a VFS centre/embassy abroad to hand in documents and give biometrics.
Important
For Norway's national routes you first complete and pay for the application in UDI's online portal, and then book an in-person appointment to hand in your documents and provide biometrics. Where you attend depends on where you live: applicants in Norway report to the police or the Service Centre for Foreign Workers (SUA), while applicants abroad attend a Visa Application Centre (VFS) or a Norwegian embassy.
Appointment slots are managed by the receiving office, not by UDI directly. You book through your application in the portal, and your receipt/confirmation tells you where to meet and what to bring.
Booking the appointment
- Log into your application and select the option to book an appointment
- Only the police / embassy / VFS centre controls the available dates
- For renewals, attend no later than one month before your current permit expires
- Applicants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent
Biometrics collected
- A facial photograph and fingerprints are taken at the appointment
- These biometrics are stored in the immigration register and used for the residence card
- Providing biometrics at the first appointment often means non-EU/EEA applicants do not have to meet the police a second time after a decision
