Who it's for

Remote employees and freelancers/self-employed people whose employer or business is registered in an OECD country and who can work from anywhere, wanting to base themselves in Latvia.

Requirements

  • Employment with, or ownership of, a business registered in an OECD member state
  • An employment relationship of at least six months' standing
  • Monthly income at or above the threshold (about €4,213)
  • Bank statements (typically 3–6 months) evidencing the income
  • Valid health insurance covering the whole stay
  • Police clearance certificate from your home country
  • Valid travel document

What you can do

  • Live in Latvia for up to one year, renewable to two years, while working remotely
  • Continue working for your OECD-based employer or your own OECD-registered business
  • Travel within the Schengen area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period

How to apply

Assemble proof of your OECD-based employment/business, income and insurance, then apply for the long-stay visa through the relevant Latvian representation or OCMA. The route is governed by PMLP's remote-work visa guidance.

Note you may not take up work for a Latvian employer on this visa — it is for remote work for the foreign business only.
