Greek Family Reunification Residence Permit

Who it's for

Spouses and dependent children of non-EU nationals who hold a valid Greek residence permit, and family members of Greek citizens, who wish to live together in Greece.

Requirements

• Sponsor holds a qualifying, valid Greek residence permit (or is a Greek citizen)
• Proof of family relationship (marriage and birth certificates, duly legalised/translated)
• Sponsor's proof of sufficient income and adequate accommodation
• National (Type D) visa for family reunification for the incoming member
• Health insurance and criminal record certificate where required

What you can do

• Live in Greece with the sponsoring family member
• Access employment and study as permitted under the code
• Renew the permit in line with the sponsor's status
• Build toward independent and long-term residence over time

How to apply

The sponsor typically initiates the process, and the family member applies for a national family-reunification visa at the Greek consulate with proof of the relationship and the sponsor's means. After entry, the family member applies for the residence permit through the Ministry of Migration and Asylum.
