Who it's for

Non-EU remote workers — employees, freelancers or self-employed people — whose work can be done from anywhere and whose income comes from outside Greece, who want to base themselves in Greece.

Requirements

  • Proof of remote employment or self-employment / freelance activity for parties outside Greece
  • Evidence of stable, sufficient monthly income from abroad (higher amounts for a spouse and each child)
  • Valid passport
  • Health insurance valid in Greece
  • Criminal record certificate and proof of accommodation in Greece

  • Live in Greece while working remotely for foreign employers or clients
  • Bring your spouse and children under the residence permit
  • Travel within the Schengen area
  • Extend the stay by moving from the national visa to the residence permit

How to apply

Apply for the national (Type D) digital-nomad visa at the Greek consulate for your area of residence, providing proof of remote activity and income. Since 2026 the first application must be made abroad at a consulate rather than in-country. To stay beyond the visa, apply for the digital-nomad residence permit through the Ministry of Migration and Asylum after arrival.
