Fees for Estonia national visas and residence permits
Estonia charges a EUR 120 long-stay (D) visa fee and separate state fees for temporary residence permits, which vary by purpose and where you apply.
Important
Estonia's national state fees are set by law and published by the Police and Border Guard Board. The long-stay (D) visa carries a fixed fee, while temporary residence permit fees differ by permit type and by whether the application is made inside Estonia or at an Estonian representation abroad. The figures below are the official amounts published by the PBGB (residence permit fees stated as applying from 1 January 2025).
Fees are paid to the Ministry of Finance account with the correct reference number, or at the point of application. A separate fee applies for the residence permit card itself.
Long-stay (D) visa state fees
- Long-stay (D) visa: EUR 120
- Long-stay visa for children aged 6-11: EUR 60
- Children under 6: exempt
- Extending the period of stay (in Estonia): EUR 30
- First appeal against a visa/stay decision: EUR 160
Temporary residence permit state fees (from 1 January 2025)
- General temporary residence permit: EUR 225 in Estonia / EUR 255 at a foreign representation
- Residence permit for employment: EUR 250 in Estonia / EUR 280 at a foreign representation
- Residence permit for business: EUR 350 in Estonia / EUR 380 at a foreign representation
- Residence permit card: EUR 70
How to pay
- Bank transfer to the Ministry of Finance account with the correct reference number, or payment at the point of application
- Keep proof of payment - it is part of the required document pack
