Appointments and biometrics for Estonia applications
Estonia's national applications are lodged in person - at an Estonian representation abroad or a PBGB service office in Estonia - with fingerprints collected at submission.
Important
Both the long-stay (D) visa and the temporary residence permit must be submitted in person, because biometrics are collected at the point of application. If you are abroad, you apply at the Estonian representation handling visa or permit applications in your country of residence; if you are in Estonia, you apply at a Police and Border Guard Board service office and book an appointment online.
Applicants generally complete a form or pre-application first, then attend in person to provide fingerprints and a photo and submit supporting documents.
Booking an appointment
- In Estonia: book a PBGB service office slot at broneering.politsei.ee
- Abroad: an advance appointment is required when applying outside your country of residence; for D visas start with the online pre-application system before attending
- PBGB service offices: Tallinn, Tartu, Johvi, Narva and Parnu
Biometrics
- Long-stay (D) visa: 10 fingerprints are collected; children under 12 are exempt
- Residence permit: fingerprints are taken in person, unless provided less than 6 years earlier or the applicant is permanently unable to provide them
- A compliant photo is captured or submitted with the application
