Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Official processing times are published only for some services. A police certificate of character takes approximately five days to process at the Immigration Unit. Visitor permits are issued at the point of entry, and extensions are dealt with in person at the Immigration Head Office or port offices.

For entry visas, work permits, residence permits and citizenship, the Ministry of National Security and the Office of the Prime Minister do not publish fixed processing standards; timelines depend on the completeness of the application and any additional checks. Applicants should apply well in advance and confirm expected timescales with the relevant office.
