Requirements

  • A passport valid for at least 6 months.
  • Pre-approval (a visa approval/authority letter) obtained before travel — Visa on Arrival is not a walk-up visa.
  • Evidence of online payment of the visa fee.
  • A letter of invitation from a company/host in Nigeria accepting immigration responsibility (for invited applicants).
  • Self-sponsored business travellers may not need an invitation letter but must show evidence of sufficient funds.
  • Certain categories (e.g. Temporary Work Permit) require pre-approval from the Comptroller General of Immigration via a Visa Authority Letter.

How to apply

Apply online in advance through the Nigeria Immigration Service portal for Visa on Arrival pre-approval.

Pay the visa fee online and keep the payment receipt.

Wait for the approval/authority letter to be issued.

On the slated date, take your payment receipt, approval letter and other required documents to the arrival point of entry in Nigeria for further processing.

Complete the visa application form and present your documents to immigration officers at the port of entry.
