Entry request form and CA-4 free movement
Nicaragua's pre-arrival online entry request form and its membership of the Central America-4 (CA-4) border agreement.
Important
Nicaragua requires travellers to complete an online entry request form (Solicitud de Ingreso Ordenado y Seguro) before arriving by air, land or sea. This is separate from any visa requirement and applies broadly regardless of nationality.
Nicaragua is also part of the Central America-4 (CA-4) Border Control Agreement with Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. Under CA-4, permitted visitors can move among the four member countries, but the tourist stay allowance is counted across the whole CA-4 area rather than resetting at each internal border — to reset the clock a traveller generally must leave the CA-4 region.
Key points
- Complete the online entry request form before travelling to Nicaragua.
- CA-4 covers Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.
- Tourist time is counted across the CA-4 area, not per country.
- Extensions of stay are requested at DGME offices in Nicaragua.
