Nicaragua charges fees at entry and for residence procedures. Visa-free tourists pay a tourist-card fee on arrival, and extensions of stay carry a per-period fee paid at DGME offices. Temporary and permanent residence each carry their own government fee, paid directly to the DGME.

Fees are set by regulation and change periodically, and additional costs (document legalisation, apostille, translations, consular authentication) apply. Always confirm the current amount and accepted payment method with the DGME before applying, and note that cash in exact amounts is often required at the border.

  • Tourist card on arrival: around US$10 (cash).
  • Extension of stay: a fee per additional 30-day period, applied for at DGME offices.
  • Temporary residence and permanent residence: separate government fees paid to the DGME.
