Who is eligible for a Myanmar visa

Eligibility for the eVisa, visa on arrival, or visa exemption depends on your nationality; other travellers apply at an embassy.

Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

The eVisa system is open only to nationals of countries on the Ministry's approved lists, and the tourist and business eVisa each have their own eligible-country list published on the official portal.

A limited number of nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival at Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw international airports, and some ASEAN and other nationals enter visa-free for short stays under bilateral agreements. Nationalities not on any of these lists must apply for the appropriate visa at a Myanmar embassy or consulate before travelling.

All travellers are expected to hold a passport valid for the period required by the Ministry and to meet the conditions of the specific visa category they hold.
