Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality and travel purpose; a few nationalities are visa-exempt while most need an e-Visa.

A small number of nationalities can enter Mauritania visa-free under bilateral agreements, though several of those agreements apply only to diplomatic or official passport holders. Everyone else must obtain an e-Visa through the ANRPTS portal before arrival.

Eligibility to enter also depends on meeting passport-validity and health requirements, including yellow fever vaccination where applicable. Check your nationality against the official Ministry of Foreign Affairs list before assuming you can travel visa-free.
