Arrival, Biometrics and Health Requirements

Mauritania captures biometrics and collects the visa fee on arrival, and enforces yellow fever entry rules.

Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

A distinctive feature of Mauritania's e-Visa system is that the process is completed at the border: after your online approval, you pay the visa fee in cash and have your biometric data captured when you arrive. Bring the exact fee in euros or US dollars.

Health rules also apply on entry. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers arriving from or transiting a country with yellow fever risk, and the certificate becomes valid ten days after vaccination — arriving within that window can lead to refused entry.

On arrival

  • Pay the visa fee in cash (euros or US dollars)
  • Provide biometric data at the border
  • Present a yellow fever certificate where required
