How to Apply for a Liberia Visa

The application route depends on your nationality: visa-free entry for ECOWAS nationals, the online Visa on Arrival for most others, and an embassy visa for nationals of countries that host a Liberian mission.

Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

How you apply for entry to Liberia is decided first by your nationality. Nationals of ECOWAS member states enter without a visa. Travellers from countries that do not host a Liberian embassy apply online for the electronic Visa on Arrival, receive a PDF approval with a QR code, and collect the visa sticker on arrival at Roberts International Airport, where biometric data is captured.

Citizens of countries where Liberia maintains an embassy or consulate cannot use the online portal and must apply for their visa at that diplomatic mission before travelling. Foreign nationals coming to live, work or study regularise their stay after arrival through the resident-permit and, where relevant, work-permit processes.

Choose your route

  • ECOWAS national: enter visa-free
  • No Liberian embassy in your country: apply online for the Visa on Arrival
  • Liberian embassy in your country: apply at that embassy
  • Coming to work: employer applies for an Alien Work Permit plus a resident permit
