Whether you need a Guyana visa depends on your nationality, purpose of travel and length of stay.

Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Guyana operates a visa policy based on nationality and purpose. Citizens of CARICOM member states can generally stay visa-free for up to six months, and nationals of many other countries can visit visa-free for up to 90 days; shorter visa-free periods apply to some nationalities. Everyone else must obtain a visa before travel or a visa on arrival with prior approval.

Visa-free entry is for visits only. Anyone intending to work, study or run a business needs the appropriate visa — Employment, Student or Business — regardless of nationality. All travellers must hold a passport valid for at least six months with blank pages available.

Check before you travel

  • Confirm your nationality against the current Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa-exempt list
  • Match the visa to your purpose: visit, work, study or business
  • Ensure your passport has at least six months' validity
