The work permit fee is given as the US$194–US$1,293 band from the GIS Fees and Charges schedule (effective 15 May 2025); the exact fee depends on the category and may change. Requirements

  • Certificate of Business Registration for the employer (Certificate of Incorporation, Certificate to Commence Business and Business Code)
  • GIPC (Ghana Investment Promotion Centre) Registration Certificate
  • The company's current tax clearance certificate
  • The company's audited accounts for the previous year
  • A medical report from the Ghana Immigration Clinic, Accra
  • A police report from the applicant's home country
  • A copy of the bio-data page of the employee's passport
  • Curriculum vitae, plus professional and educational certificates
  • The offer / appointment letter or contract of employment
  • A copy of the non-citizen identification card

How to apply

A foreign national who has been lawfully admitted to Ghana and has a job offer with a Ghana-registered company applies through the employing company. The company submits an application letter addressed to the Comptroller-General of Immigration, together with the completed form, the supporting company and personal documents, and the applicable government fee.

The permit period is set by an immigration officer; there is no fixed statutory duration published on the service page.
