How to Apply for an Equatorial Guinea Visa
A step-by-step overview of applying for entry to Equatorial Guinea, primarily through the official online e-Visa portal, or through an embassy where the e-Visa does not apply.
Important
For most short visits, Equatorial Guinea uses an online e-Visa system launched on 1 July 2023. Applicants register on the official e-Visa portal, complete the application form, upload the required documents, pay the processing fee, and receive the visa decision by email. The portal is the government's designated channel and can be used from any country without visiting an embassy in person.
Longer stays and purposes not covered by the e-Visa (such as employment, study, family reunification or permanent residence) generally require applying through an Equatoguinean embassy or consulate and then completing residence formalities inside the country with the Directorate General of Immigration. Work authorisation additionally involves the Ministry of Labour.
Because approval is at the discretion of the immigration authority and admission is decided by the officer at the border, apply well ahead of travel and carry printed confirmation of your visa.
Applying online (e-Visa)
- Register an account on the official e-Visa portal.
- Complete the application form with your travel and passport details.
- Upload the required supporting documents.
- Pay the processing fee online.
- Wait for the decision by email (normally within about 72 hours) and print the approved e-Visa to present on arrival.
Applying through an embassy
- Use this route for work, study, family, long-stay or multiple-entry purposes not offered online.
- Contact the nearest Equatoguinean embassy or consulate for the current form, document list and fees.
- Complete in-country residence steps after arrival where required.
