How to Apply for a Dominica Visa or Permit
A step-by-step overview of how to apply for entry, work, study, residence and citizenship in Dominica, and which authority handles each.
Important
How you apply depends on your purpose. Short visits use either visa-free entry or a visitor's visa; longer stays use a work permit, student visa, the Work In Nature extended-stay visa, permanent residence or citizenship. The Immigration Division and Labour Division under the Ministry of National Security and Legal Affairs handle most immigration applications, while citizenship by investment is handled separately by the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU).
For visits, first check whether your nationality is on the visa-exempt list. If it is, you enter without a visa (subject to documents at the border); if not, you complete the Commonwealth of Dominica Visa Application form before travelling. All travellers should complete the online Embarkation/Disembarkation (ED) card before arrival.
For work, study, residence and citizenship, the relevant application forms are published by the Ministry of National Security and Legal Affairs. Fees are generally paid at the Treasury Department, with the receipt attached to the application.
