Requirements

  • Valid passport or international travel document
  • Completed visa application form with recent photo
  • A consent/opinion letter from the relevant transport company or competent authority

How to apply

  • Complete the COVA application form at consular.mfa.gov.cn/VISA and upload your documents (applications are often handled with the transport company or its agent)
  • Submit your passport, the signed confirmation page and the company guarantee letter to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center or Chinese embassy/consulate when prompted
  • Pay the fee and collect your passport when it is ready

Documents you may need

  • Original passport plus a photocopy of the bio-data page
  • Printed, signed COVA confirmation page and a recent passport photo
  • A guarantee letter issued by the foreign transportation company (or the relevant company / agent)
