How to apply

There is no advance application and no fee for visa-free short stays. You simply travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina and present yourself to border police at the port of entry.

At the border you show your travel document and, if asked, evidence supporting the conditions of entry (purpose, funds, accommodation, onward travel). The border police decide on admission and record your entry.

Your 90 days are counted across all visits within the rolling six-month (180-day) window, starting from the date of your first entry — so track your days if you plan to come and go.

Documents you may need at the border

  • Valid passport or other recognised travel document
  • Return or onward travel ticket, or evidence of your travel plans
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation from a host)
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for your stay (cash or bank/card statements)
  • Travel or health insurance covering your stay (recommended)
  • For minors under 14 travelling without a parent/guardian: notarised authorisation from the parents

  • No. The 90-day allowance is the total time you may spend in Bosnia and Herzegovina across all visits within any 180-day period, counted from your first entry. Leaving and returning does not reset the count.
