How to Apply for a Benin Visa
A step-by-step overview of applying for entry to Benin, from the online e-Visa to category visas and resident cards issued by the DEI.
Important
Most short-stay visitors to Benin apply online for an e-Visa through the official government portal at evisa.bj, without visiting an embassy. You complete the form, upload your passport bio page and a photo, choose the duration and entry type, pay the fee, and receive the e-Visa electronically to present on arrival.
Longer-stay travellers – for work, study or business – apply for the corresponding category visa (professional, student or business) and, once in Benin, apply to the Direction de l'Émigration et de l'Immigration (DEI) for a resident card. Nationals of ECOWAS states and certain other countries do not need a visa for short visits and simply present valid travel documents at the border.

- Choose 30 or 90 days and single or multiple entry
- Pay online and receive the e-Visa by email
