Every arriving traveller must produce a valid passport or other document establishing identity and nationality; passports must be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival. Visitors should also carry an onward or return ticket, confirmation of accommodation and evidence of funds.

Permit and citizenship routes require further documents: employment or enrolment evidence for work and student permits; marriage and relationship evidence for family routes; and, for citizenship by naturalisation, passport bio-data and stamp pages, local and overseas police records, a birth certificate and (if married) a marriage certificate.

Commonly required

  • Valid passport (minimum six months validity from arrival)
  • Passport photographs meeting the relevant portal's specification
  • Onward/return ticket and proof of accommodation for visitors
  • Police certificate(s) for residence, nomad and citizenship routes
