Sierra Leone Visa Processing Times

What to expect on timing for eVisas and permits, and why you should apply well ahead of travel.

Official guidance Regularly updated

Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Processing times depend on the visa or permit type, the completeness of your application and current demand. The eVisa and Unified Permit systems let you submit online and track your application status through to a decision.

Because official published processing times were not confirmed for every route, apply as early as possible and avoid booking non-refundable travel until your visa or permit is approved. You can monitor progress using the tracking feature and your reference number.

If an application is taking longer than expected, use the Immigration Department's official enquiry or report channels rather than third-party agents.

Tips

  • Apply well before your intended travel date
  • Track your application with the reference number in the portal
  • Don't book non-refundable travel until approved
  • Use SLID's official enquiry channels for delays
