Spanish Family Reunification Visa (Visado de reagrupación familiar)

Who it's for

Close family members of a non-EU national who already holds legal residence in Spain and meets the income and housing conditions to reunify them.

Requirements

• Sponsor holds legal residence in Spain (usually renewed at least once) and applies for the reunification authorisation first
• Proof of the family relationship (marriage/partnership, birth certificates, dependency)
• Sponsor's proof of sufficient, stable income for the enlarged family
• Proof of adequate housing (housing suitability report)
• Health cover for the arriving relatives
• Clean criminal record certificate for adult relatives
• Valid passports for the relatives

What you can do

• Bring eligible close relatives to live in Spain
• Reunified relatives receive a residence permit linked to the sponsor
• Spouses/partners and older children may access work rights under current rules
• Relatives can progress toward independent and long-term residence over time

How to apply

The resident sponsor first applies to the Spanish immigration office for the reunification authorisation, proving relationship, income and housing. Once it is granted, each relative applies in person for the family reunification visa at the Spanish consulate in their country of residence.

After the visa is issued and the relative enters Spain, they register and apply for the foreigner identity card (TIE).
