Who it's for

Non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals with capital to invest who want Portuguese residence with minimal physical-stay obligations and a path to permanent residence and citizenship, without relying on local employment.

Requirements

  • A qualifying investment maintained for the required period (e.g. eligible investment fund, research, cultural support, job creation, or business investment)
  • Proof of the lawful source and transfer of the investment funds
  • Portuguese tax number (NIF) and a Portuguese bank account
  • Valid passport, health insurance and clean criminal record certificate
  • Compliance with the minimum-stay requirement to renew

  • Travel within the Schengen area as a resident

How to apply

Choose and complete a qualifying investment, then submit the ARI application through AIMA's official channel with proof of the investment, source of funds and personal documents.

After approval, collect the residence permit and maintain both the investment and the minimum-stay requirement through each renewal.
