Who it's for
Non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals who do not intend to work locally but can live on regular passive income - pensions, rental income, dividends, interest, royalties or similar - and want to settle in Portugal.
Requirements
- Proof of stable, regular passive income at or above the required level
- Additional income for a spouse and each dependant, per the set percentages
- Proof of accommodation in Portugal (rental contract or property)
- Portuguese tax number (NIF) and usually a Portuguese bank account
- Health insurance and clean criminal record certificate
- Evidence of sufficient savings alongside the income stream

How to apply
Set up your Portuguese basics (NIF, bank account, accommodation) and gather proof of your recurring income. Apply for the D7 residence visa at the consulate or VFS centre for your area.
Enter Portugal on the 4-month visa and attend your AIMA appointment to receive the residence permit.
