Dutch Start-up Residence Permit

Who it's for

Entrepreneurs from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland with an innovative business idea who want to establish a startup in the Netherlands with structured mentoring support.

Requirements

• An innovative product or service (assessed by RVO)
• A signed agreement with a reliable, RVO-recognised facilitator committing to at least one year of support
• A realistic step-by-step plan for building the business
• Registration (or intended registration) in the Dutch Trade Register (KVK)
• Sufficient means of subsistence; valid passport; no public-order objections; TB test where required

What you can do

• Live in the Netherlands for a year to develop your startup with facilitator support
• Bring family members through family reunification
• Transition to the self-employed person permit once the business is established
• Access the Dutch startup ecosystem and RVO guidance

How to apply

You submit the application to the IND; RVO assesses the innovativeness of the idea, the facilitator, and the step-by-step plan, and must give a positive response on all counts.

If an MVV is required for your nationality, you collect it abroad after approval, then enter the Netherlands and collect the residence card.

Before the year ends, apply for the self-employed person permit to continue running the business.
