Eligibility for Panama Immigration Categories

Eligibility depends on the specific category - nationality, employment, investment, pension income, family ties or study - and each has its own conditions set by SNM.

Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Panama offers a wide range of categories, and eligibility is category-specific. Non-resident and tourist entry depends on nationality and the SNM visa-exempt list. Work categories depend on a job offer plus employer compliance with workforce quotas. Investment and business routes depend on meeting financial thresholds.

Family categories depend on a genuine relationship to a Panamanian citizen or resident (spouse, dependent child, parent of a Panamanian child). Study categories depend on enrolment at a recognised institution. Retirement categories depend on a guaranteed lifetime pension from abroad.

Across almost all categories, applicants must hold a valid passport, have a clean criminal record, and be able to document that any required funds come from a lawful source.
