Requirements
- You are a foreign national whose nationality requires a visa to enter Mexico as a visitor (many nationalities are visa-exempt — check the SRE list first)
- You are travelling for non-lucrative purposes such as tourism, business or transit, with no paid activity in Mexico
- You can show economic solvency — proof of sufficient income or savings to support your stay, to the consulate's required level
- You attend a consular interview, at which issuance is at the discretion of the consular officer
How to apply
- Book an appointment at the Mexican consulate for your area through the MiConsulado / citas.sre.gob.mx portal
- Complete and print the visa application form (double-sided, single page) and sign it
- Gather your passport, photograph, proof of economic solvency and any residence document
- Attend the consular appointment in person, submit your documents and pay the consular fee
- Attend the interview; if approved, the visa is affixed to your passport
Documents you may need
- Valid passport (original) plus a photocopy of the photo/personal-data page
- One recent colour photograph to the consulate's specification (face uncovered, no glasses, white background)
- Completed and signed visa application form
- Proof of legal residence in the country where you apply, if you are not a citizen of it
- Proof of economic solvency (recent payslips, pension statements or bank statements)
- Payment of the consular fee
