ETA-IL: Travelling to Israel Visa-Free

Since 1 January 2025, nationals of visa-exempt countries must hold an approved ETA-IL electronic travel authorisation before boarding a flight to Israel.

The ETA-IL is a pre-travel screening authorisation introduced by the Population and Immigration Authority. It replaced the previous arrangement whereby visa-exempt nationals could simply arrive; from 1 January 2025 an approved ETA-IL is required before boarding.

The ETA-IL is not a visa and does not guarantee entry — it permits travel to the border, where a control officer decides on admission. It covers tourism, family visits and short business trips and is used for multiple entries within its validity period.
