Ghana entry requirements explained
Ghana entry requirements explained — passport validity, the Yellow Fever certificate, accommodation and onward-travel proof, from the official Ghana Immigration Service.
Important
This page explains, in plain language, the general entry requirements the Ghana Immigration Service publishes for visitors. Your exact requirements depend on your nationality and circumstances, so always confirm with the official Ghana Immigration Service guidance before you travel.
A valid passport
The Ghana Immigration Service states that visitors generally need a passport valid for at least six months. Check your passport's expiry date well before you travel.
Yellow Fever vaccination
GIS requires a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate from visitors. Arrange your vaccination in good time, as a certificate is typically only valid from a set number of days after vaccination.
Onward travel and accommodation
The Ghana Immigration Service also asks visitors for proof of a hotel booking and a return ticket. Business travellers additionally need supporting letters from their organisation and their business associates in Ghana.
