Requirements
- A signed application stating identity, purpose, address and means of notification
- Two recent passport-sized photographs
- Legalised or apostilled birth certificate and criminal-record certificate
- Proof of admission or enrolment at the recognised educational institution
- Proof of payment of the government application fee
How to apply
- Submit the application and supporting documents to the DGME or a Costa Rican consulate abroad
- On approval, register and obtain the DIMEX foreigner ID card
- Renew on proof of continued enrolment
