Costa Rican Immigration Fees
The government fees associated with residence applications and the remote-worker Estancia, and how they are paid.
Important
The general government fee for a residence application is reported to be US$50 (or its equivalent in colones at the Central Bank reference rate), paid to Banco de Costa Rica account number 242480-0 in the applicant's name. This is separate from the change-of-status and DIMEX card issuance costs, and from the ongoing CCSS (social security) contributions that residents must pay.
The remote-worker Estancia (digital nomad) category is reported to carry a US$100 application fee paid to Banco de Costa Rica. Additional costs across categories can include document legalisation/apostille, translation, and mandatory health insurance for the Estancia.
Because fees are set by resolution and can change, applicants should confirm the current amounts and payment accounts on the official DGME site before paying.
