Nationals of many countries on Colombia's exemption lists, and certain special cases, may enter Colombia for short tourism, business or leisure visits without a visa. It does not permit paid work.

Requirements

  • Hold a passport from a country or territory on Colombia's exemption list (set by Resolution 5488 of 2022)
  • A passport or equivalent travel document that is valid and current at the time of entry
  • A stay of no more than 180 days within the year
  • A purpose limited to tourism, business meetings or leisure — no paid work

How to apply

There is no visa to apply for in advance. The permit is issued by Migración Colombia at the point of entry.

  • Present your valid original passport or travel document at the migration control post on arrival
  • The migration officer grants a Permiso de Ingreso y Permanencia (PIP) of up to 90 calendar days if you meet the requirements
  • To stay longer, apply to Migración Colombia for a Permiso Temporal de Permanencia (PTP) extension before your PIP expires — you must still hold a valid PIP
  • Total stay may not exceed 180 calendar days (continuous or discontinuous) within the same year
